Spring is just around the corner

It's spring time at least at our house and that means, baseball, baseball and more baseball.  No, really its alot of fun, but we do spend lots of time at the ballfields. Yesterday, Kanon was invited to travel with the high school JV team for a double header at Parkview and Brookwood, so we spent all day watching baseball.  We were able to squeeze in dinner with KL, Martha, Kennon and Reese since we were in Atlanta which was so much fun.  We always find the coolest places to eat with them, and last night was no different.  We ate dinner at an upscale restaurant called Three Blind Mice.  I'm thinking we were a little under dressed and our children seemed to be the only other children there, but we still had a great time.  Today, Kanon is in Cherokee County observing a summer league that he might be interested in so he can play this summer and continue to improve and get stronger.  I figured I should make an attempt to at least start updating the blog while they were gone today and before my CSL meeting tonight.

Lots of exciting changes have taken place in our world in the last few weeks, mostly surrounding my business.  The business has moved to a wonderful new location and our online shopping website has been launched.  We are looking forward to the new business that the website change will bring in.  I don't think I have posted pictures from the CSL fundraiser "Cocktails for a Cause" so I promise to do that very soon.

Spring is probably our busiest time of the year, but also the most fun.  CSL Social and Spring Coffee are coming up for me, Don is busy with spring sports at work, Grayson is gearing up for tennis...she's just waiting on me. Kanon will continue with high school baseball, Tyler starts his job of scorekeeper for Cartersville Little League again.  Parker, not playing little league this year seems a little different, but I think he's enjoying the break.  Parker just finished the statewide 5th Grade writing test and is looking forward to touring the middle school in a few weeks.  Time is just flying by.  I love my sweet babies and love helping them pursue their interests and activities.  My two high schoolers would probably cringe right about now reading that last sentence.  Of course...they are NOT babies!

Now....I am off to the grocery store.  Maybe when I get back, I can update some more with pictures.  Lots of pictures to post.  Blessings for now.....

Our "Next" Purple Hurricane

When Don coached for the Purple Hurricanes and wore the #1 Jersey lots of years ago, I had no idea that down the road Kanon would also wear #1 for the hurricanes. We are so proud of Kanon for making the 2012 freshman baseball team for Cartersville High School.  He has wanted to wear the purple for a long time and now is his chance.  So far we have played two games and they have won one and lost one.  Kanon has stepped on the field both games and has made us so proud.  He pitched first game against Darlington throwing 10 pitches and striking one out, the second game he batted and got a hit.  Don says it was fielders choice but it was a hit to me.  He hit the ball and got on first....I couldn't be more proud.  He has also shown good sportsmanship and has kept a good attitude.  I think his coaches are pleased as well.  Kanon will continue to get stronger and continue to do what he's supposed to do when he gets the opportunity and his dad and I will be there to root him on.  We are his biggest fans!

Happy Valentine's Day..........

Happy Valentine's Day 2012!
Here's a look at the valentine gifts waiting to be opened by Don and the kids.
We had a wonderful evening at home to celebrate this valentine day.  Don picked up dinner so I didn't have to cook and for those that know me....that's the best gift I could ever have.  I'm not a big fan of cooking and anytime I can get out of it, you know I will.  This years gifts were a little more practical.  The kids all needed new sweatshirts and Don needed some new "canes" wear as we prepare to cheer on our very own purple hurricane!

From Basketball Celebration to Ice Skating....

We started this particular Saturday morning off with a pizza frenzy to celebrate the end of this year's basketball season for Parker.  He had a wonderful year and it really seemed to fly by this year.  A big thank you goes out to his coach and teammates for an awesome season!

After a basketball banquet at CiCi's, Grayson and I raced to meet up with Ms. Dana and Ally to head to the ice skating rink.  This was Grayson's first attempt at ice skating and by the end of the day...she was off the wall and moving quite nicely.  I was impressed!  I was never very good at ice skating and it always hurt my ankles, but Grayson picked it up pretty quickly.  She and her friends had so much fun.  The girls were so sweet and Lydia had a great birthday.

Affectionately "4" Eyes

Grayson reminded me I had not posted on the blog about her new glasses.  I can't believe I let that one slip by.  Over the Christmas holidays, we made her an appointment with the eye doctor and ended up having to get glasses.  I felt so bad because she had been telling me for months she couldn't see and I had somewhat blew her off cause I thought she just wanted glasses cause she thought they were cute.  I was so wrong and felt like such a bad mom, but we have it taken care of now and even her teacher says she has improved in the classroom.  She has always been a good student so now she can be a great student.
Doesn't she look adorable?

This picture was made at the eye doctor. These were the glasses she chose.  I love them!

Flying through January

Well, just as I begin most posts....We are busy, busy , busy!!! So busy that I haven't even touched our camera since Christmas.  We are busy with school and work and me getting ready for the upcoming fundraiser dance for CSL.  This year I am serving as co-chair for silent auction and I do not want to let the league down.  I hope that we will raise lots of money for the children of Bartow County.  I must say the family business is blessed beyond my wildest imaginations right now, I just pray I can keep up.  Parker is still enjoying his basketball season as Kanon is gearing up for high school baseball tryouts.  Tyler is in cruise control right now, but better be signing up for the SAT now!!  Don is getting ready to embark on another school change and I must say he is looking forward to this one.  We both just want to go where God wants us to be.  Grayson plans to start tennis in the spring and I think she will do great.  I must say I am definitely ready for spring...so tired of this rainy, cold weather.

New Beginnings.....January 2012

New Years Eve was a blast hanging at our new house with some friends.  Parker and Grayson both loved showing off their moves on Just Dance 3.  My friends Lari and Lane didn't look to shabby either.  And now that all the Christmas celebrations and parties are finished for this year it's back to the routine and hustle and bustle of church, school, basketball, work and enjoying our sweet family.  I feel like for once I am finally on track and have some sense of control in my life and not just moving from one activity to another mindlessly.  I am truly trying to savor each moment.  Parker is enjoying basketball as usual, although I must say they have definitely struggled the last few games.  I think moving into town relieved alot of additional stress...more than I even realized for our family.  We are not spending all of our extra time in the car which equals more time at home.

Don is out of town for work tonight and we are about to get ready to climb into bed and relax.  Grayson has already made it known that she is sleeping with me tonight.  Sleeping with me is her favorite thing to do when dad is out of town.  I must say I don't mind a bit because I know it's just a matter of time before she will be too busy for mom.

Ok for a random picture....Can you guess where I would like to be right now?

Blessings for now.....
